Development Director

Job Description:

JOB ROLE PURPOSE & SUMMARY:
Working closely with the Executive Director, the Development Director will lead the organization’s development initiatives to secure continuous philanthropic support for the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to fulfill the mission, purpose, and priorities of Pathways.
• Implement and execute annual fundraising plan to meet fundraising goals.
• Prepare and present regular reports on progress towards fundraising goals.
• Network and maintain regular correspondence with a portfolio of donors.
• Develop and build donor base, financial support and local brand awareness.
• Set annual development budget, determining appropriate revenue goals and ensuring revenue and expenses meet budget.
• Facilitate fundraising campaigns annually to maximize both revenue and relationship building in the community.
• Assist marketing in the creation of print, digital, and social media content.
• Manage grant writing and identification of new grant opportunities.
• Plan and execute special events.
• Work within Donor Perfect database to ensure accurate input of constituent and gift records.
• Guide recruitment, implementation, and training of volunteers in a comprehensive community outreach program to inspire and involve community members.
• Oversee all aspects of annual giving, including direct mail, online giving, grants, major gifts, planned giving, and stewardship program.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Proficiency in fundraising software. Donor Perfect preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Have a working understanding of planned giving.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 5 years work experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, business development, or equivalent experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office setting.
• Travel within community, infrequent evening and weekend obligations.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
