With peer support groups, mentoring, and family support, our mission is to help children and families work through the loss of a loved one together and go on to live fulfilling lives. Summary:

The Collier County Director (CCD) is a leadership position and public representative of Valerie’s House in Collier County, responsible for assisting with the overall management of the programs for children and families of Valerie’s House (VH) in Collier County. The number one responsibility of the CCD is to provide support, care and compassion for Valerie’s House children and their families.

Areas of Responsibility and Essential Duties:

Family Support

  • Oversees Naples facility, a small staff of employees and team of volunteers.
  • Conducts orientations, family tours, and assessments of children in Collier County.
  • Communicates with families on an ongoing basis, providing care and support, assessing their ongoing needs and success in the grief support group they are placed in.
  • Facilitates support groups and oversees volunteers and staff on Naples group nights.
  • Assists with School-based groups to include meeting with school personnel, developing curriculum and implementing the groups.
  • Provides Case Management Services to families, data entry and tracking families in family database.
  • Assists with the development of interactive curriculum per semester to allow children to talk about their loss in a creative way.
  • Stays current with grief and bereavement training and education, willingness to learn as much about the grief and bereavement field as possible.

 

Outreach and Fundraising:

  • Leads all outreach for Collier County, including but not limited to, tabling events, speaking engagements, and partnerships with other non-profits and businesses.
  • Meets with potential donors to raise funding for Collier County operations.
  • Helps with organizing Open House events and other fundraising events for Valerie’s House in Collier County.
  • Helps lead the Collier County Advisory Committee, a committee of local business leaders dedicated to furthering the Valerie’s House mission in Collier County.

 

               Additional Duties

  • Stays current with grief and bereavement training and education, willingness to learn as much about the grief and bereavement field as possible.
  • Attends annual National Alliance for Grieving Children Conference in June.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

An understanding and passion for grief of children, teenagers and adults is required. A vibrant personality, energy and an ability to connect with people. Proficient in technology, running reports, data entry, and an ability to learn new and multiple computer programs. Publisher and other creative software expertise are preferred, but not required. Social medial expertise a plus. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License and a personal vehicle for work related travel. Must be able to lift up to 5lbs of program supplies and office related materials. Will work some nights and weekends. Bachelor’s Degree required. Master Level in social work or mental health preferred.
