Communications Associate for Global Non Profit

Job Description:

If you are looking for an exciting, fast-paced, environment to share your communications skills with, we are looking forward to meeting you. We are adding a new position of Communications Associate to headquarters’ team. We are an international orphan care nonprofit with headquarters in Fort Myers, FL.  We have partner homes in Bolivia, Peru, Kenya, Tanzania, Trinidad. This can be a part time or full-time position. Must be able to work in an office environment.  

The Communications Associate will serve as a core member of our headquarter team with the primary responsibility of providing support for the organization’s overall communications needs—assisting in the execution of traditional and digital strategies to further our mission.  The position will report directly to the Managing Director. Ideally you have a minimum three years’ experience in a related position or experience with an advertising agency, pr firm or graphics company. There is room for advancement for this position.

Essential Duties, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and provide communications support to the Managing Director and President
  • Help to develop talking points, stories, presentation materials
  • Help develop, execute, and assess communication plans and campaigns
  • Help develop targeted outreach materials (pitches, media lists etc.)
  • Provide planning support for events, including both virtual and in-person events
  • Spearhead the cultivation and engagement of our online community on social media
  • Coordinate production and distribution of marketing and donor materials and communications
  • Assist in the development and management of annual communications calendar
  • Manage website and email content, including quarterly newsletter, social media campaigns, fundraising campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Experience with a non-profit organization preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Experience/solid understanding of MailChimp, Canva, Word Press, PowerPoint, Asana, Kindful, Give—some knowledge, experience with similar, or willing to learn
  • Experience with drip campaigns, use of email in donor cultivation
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Ability to manage multiple project deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and managing deadlines
  • Must be adaptable, creative, and self-motivated.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana or Podio
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus but not required
