Development Officer

Job Description:
Position Objective:
To successfully plan and execute fundraising initiatives that will support the goals of the nonprofit organization, Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA), which will use charitable funds to improve the quality of life and future for farmworker families and other low-income residents of Immokalee, Florida – primarily by developing and renting homes in stable, affordable housing communities with amenities and support services close to schools and workplaces. This is a permanent, long-term position with potential for additional compensation and advancement, with the role potentially leading to an executive director opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Leads short- and long-range strategic planning activities based on the organization’s fundraising goals and objectives and implements the resulting fundraising plans and strategies
- Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with board members, volunteers and community partners, as well as donors and prospective donors
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations, through visits, events and other forms of direct personal contact
- Researches, writes, edits, and/or oversees the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically and syntactically correct solicitations, proposals, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials
- Plans and conducts programs and activities designed to increase the visibility of the organization
- Recruits, trains and supervises volunteers performing related work
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A successful track record of fundraising experience
- Knowledge and experience in the Naples market preferred
- Passion for the mission of IFHA to inspire and engage others
- Five or more years of development experience in all functional areas of fundraising (major, planned, and annual giving; corporate and foundation giving; stewardship) and leadership in a major capital campaign
- Demonstrated ability to work with a board and provide strategic and operational management
- Proven ability to personally cultivate, solicit, and steward individual and institutional donors at six to eight-figure levels
- Ability to extract and analyze data to make effective, efficient decisions about donor strategy and process. Experience with eTapestry preferred but not required.
- A forward thinker with a track record of utilizing new methods of donor engagement and connectivity
- A Bachelor's degree is required

Organizational Overview:
Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance’s mission is to eliminate substandard and overcrowded rental housing for farmworker families and other low-income residents in Immokalee, FL. The organization has developed a sustainable model for non-profit housing development and is in the process of building its first community in the heart of Immokalee. The vision is for all families to have access to affordable, stable rental housing – the missing link necessary for residents to overcome poverty in this region. The goals include strengthening the community by fostering health, education, dignity and financial stability through fair housing opportunities. The organization is achieving its goals by building new rental housing with maintained rental rates at or below 30% of household income. They will ensure all new units are Category 5 hurricane-rated and provide quality of life opportunities such as early learning and after-school activities, adult education and enrichment services, and a collaborative governance model that includes residents as well as management and board of directors.
