Job Description:Program Coordinator: The position works under the general direction of the Senior Center Director, plans, develops, promotes additional programs, and encourages Volunteers to support existing programs at the Senior Center. The Program Coordinator interacts directly with staff, volunteers, senior participants, and the general public.

Collier Senior Center—Golden Gate’s mission is to facilitate access to comprehensive services and resources that enhance the quality of life of older adults and caregivers in Collier County, empowering them to maintain independent and meaningful lives. We are creatively fulfilling our mission and vision with community support and collaborations with partners dedicated to providing resources, programs, and services to help Collier’s older adults and caregivers. Collier Senior Center is a 501(c3) organization.

Program Coordinator Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• In coordination with the Senior Center Director, research, plan, and implement activities, classes, programs, trips, and special events for Senior Center participants.
• With the Senior Center Director, evaluate and modify existing programs, activities and services.
• Assist the Senior Center Director with daily maintenance of the center.
• Create monthly calendars of events, activities, and classes.
• Prepare flyers, newsletters, and other forms of marketing & publicity.
• Conduct membership orientation for new Center participants.
• Maintain detailed records of programs, events, activities, and participant usage.
• Recruit, conduct orientation, supervise, schedule, and provide on-going training for volunteers.
• In coordination with the Senior Center Director, organizes volunteer recognition events.
• Maintains public contacts in the community and public/private sectors in order to implement senior support activities. Oversee the Center's operations in the absence of the Senior Center Director.
• With Senior Center Director, develop and conduct fundraising activities and events.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Center participants, program and activity providers, the media, community organizations, other employees and volunteers, board members, other agencies/groups, and the general public in a courteous and helpful manner sometimes in stressful situations. Serve as staff support for various committees.
• Assists in ordering supplies needed for the various programs and food items.
• Back-up to receptionist for answering phones and greeting visitors/members.
• Undertakes any other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
• Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Program Coordinator Skill Requirements:
• Knowledge of, and the ability to implement, effective programs and activities for older adults.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and energetic positive attitude.
• Ability to work individually is a self-directed manner and as part of a team, as well as represent the Center in community partnerships.
• Ability to work effectively with the general public, senior participants, volunteers, and other staff members.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Ability to coordinate programs and events to promote volunteerism.
• Knowledge of computers and software applications.
• Demonstrated patience, cooperation, team-effort, and reliability.
• Ability to utilize resources to meet program goals.
• Bi-lingual Skills (English/Spanish)
• A pre-employment background check required.

Education and Experience:
Associate degree or higher and/or equivalent experience. Minimum of two years’ experience in setting related to activity coordination, volunteer management, seniors, and/or human services.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to push/pull/lift objects less than 25 lbs, be able to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
