Works to ensure the successful operation of a comprehensive stewardship and donor relations program that has three very real, and tangible goals: donor retention, upgrades and referrals. Responsible for creating, planning and implementing specific strategies to assist in raising philanthropic funds on behalf of Lee Health Foundation, its entities and its programs. Works directly with Foundation team members, volunteers, medical staff, administrative staff, and other hospital employees as well as with both individuals and corporate donors. Organizes a team effort to develop stewardship plans for donors at various recognition levels within the major gift program. Reports to Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship.


Job Standards:

  • Work with individual and organizational giving team and rest of Donor Relations team to develop and implement donor centric stewardship strategies that strengthen long-term relationships with all donors, ensuring that more gifts are generated and more fundraising revenue is raised for Lee Health.
  • Pulls together donor stewardship profiles ensuring donors are properly thanked, creates stewardship reports, updates stewardship processes and maintains a stewardship schedule.
  • Write personal acknowledgment and stewardship letters for signature by executives, board members, and key volunteers
  • Make thank you calls to donors and contacts with prospects to establish next cultivation steps in an effort to qualify/disqualify them as major gift prospects.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation to develop and execute acknowledgment and recognition procedures for all donors.
  • Identify best practices at other organizations for stewardship planning and operation.
  • As needed, arrange cultivation events involving major donors and prospects such as tours or roundtables; attend stewardship and cultivation events as needed.
  • Work with Communications team on Foundation collateral.
  • Responsible for gathering donor stories for the electronic donor walls in the four acute care hospitals and Golisano in concert with marketing.
  • Responsible for updating donor content on the electronic walls in a timely manner.



  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2 years’ fundraising experience is required, 3 years’ preferred.
  • Prior experience in a fundraising operation preferred; demonstrated skills in writing, organization, and relationship-building.
  • Strong prior experience writing correspondence or copy preferred; Prior experience with cultivation and recognition events preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge a must.
