Job Description:

POSITION TITLE:                            Development Associate

REPORTS TO:                                   Director of Development and Communications

 SUMMARY:                                       Serves as a key member of the development team reporting directly to the Director of Development and Communications.  Assists with events, communication and media strategies.  Identifies grants and other funding opportunities from a variety of sources to support LARC’s mission. Interacts regularly with LARC staff members to achieve fundraising and communications outreach goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                        Collaborates with the Director of Development and Communications to plan, manage and execute two or more fundraising events annually.  Assists in sponsorship and auction solicitations as well as logistical planning.  Helps develop and implement communication strategies.  Uses storytelling to highlight agency mission, programs and services through storytelling through a variety of social media outlets.  Identifies and recommends grant opportunities by researching federal, state and local sources as well as industry-sponsored funding.  Assists with the planning and execution of the annual giving program and producing materials for marketing and fundraising efforts.  Establishes relationships with potential new donors, sponsors and organizations.  Coordinates the management of the donor database including the production of standard reports and lists to support development activities.  Oversees the gift entry and acknowledgment processes.  Ensures all donations are appropriately documented, recognized and that donors are thanked promptly and in an appropriate manner.  Documents all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in donor database and other appropriate donor files.  Updates and maintains donor, member and prospect records in donor database.  Helps develop website content and manages updates.  Seeks out and schedule speaking engagements.  Represents LARC at public events, speaking engagements and third-party events as needed. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:        Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Marketing, Communications or Business Administration preferred.  Two – four years verifiable fundraising/ non-profit marketing, communications and/or business work experience.  Equivalent training and experience including verifiable intern experience may substitute for professional work experience.  Must have a HS Diploma or GED.  A valid Florida driver’s license is required and proof of automobile insurance is required. 

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING:         Level II, local law and driver license background screening

PAY RANGE:                                        $14.00 – 16.00 per hour
